The Great Wall of Lempa (Paphos)



​The Great Wall of Lempa is a sculpture garden located in the village of Lempa, about two miles north of Paphos / Pafos town on the west coast of Cyprus.



Begun by the celebrated Cypriot artist Stass Paraskos in 2002, it is made of discarded materials, the kinds of things most people just throw away. This includes broken bathroom tiles, old oil drums, beer and wine bottles and even old bicycles, that have been transformed into figurative and abstract sculptures.



Look out for the sculpture of King Kong, and the donkey known as 'the art critic'. You will recognise images of the Virgin Mary, reflecting the culture and environment of Cyprus, and even the blue oil drums will conjure up memories of the Green Line that runs through the centre of Nicosia.

Entrance to the garden is free and children will love it. A voluntary donation is possible at the entrance.



Open seven days a week, 9am to 6pm.



Please note the sculpture wall and garden surrounds a working college environment. Although you are welcome to visit the garden please do not disturb the students and please do not go inside the studios. There is also an indoor art gallery at the site showing a changing display of works by students and artists from the Cyprus College of Art.
